Biogram
(born in 1986) is a Ukrainian photographer who lives and works in Krakow city of Poland. Roman is engaged in artistic, advertising, and reportage photography. In his work, he combines elements of street photography, performance, and experiments. His photos are characterized by surrealism, irony, and provocation. Roman Butym explores such topics as materialism ("Validity Period") and mental health ("Motion"). The subjects of his street reports are often representatives of marginalized social groups. His works have been published on Instagram World Press Photo, on the portals Photo Vogue Italia, and on The Eye of Photography Magazine. He has also been awarded by the Academia Ignatianum in Krakow ("Through Migrants' Eyes in Quarantine", 2020) and nominated for the Fine Art Photography Awards (London, 2021).
